A guide to the history and natural resources
of the Kansas City - St. Joseph corridor
and surrounding communities

WindingRiver.com was established as a web site in 1997 to archive historical images and written documents related to the history and natural resources of Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri. Today, it is the largest web site specializing in the history of 24 Kansas and Missouri counties along a corridor from south of Kansas City to north of St. Joseph.

The web site is full of interesting information on the history and natural resources of that area. With informative articles on subjects ranging from 10,000-year-old woolly mammoth archeological finds, Civil War skirmishes, Missouri River steamboating and much more, the web site has become popular with thousands of unique visitors each month.

In addition to archives of historic images and writings, the website includes directories of museums, historic sites, history organizations, nature centers and natural resource organizations plus much more.

In 2011 Winding River Communications will introduce a monthly newsletter and email blasts in support of WindingRiver.com.  These products will form the basis of our new "Make Your Mark On History" program, allowing businesses to personalize the newletter and email blasts and distribute to their clients.
